Marshall K5QE — Presentations & Technical Legacy

ORIGINAL PRESENTATIONS / PUBLIC CONFERENCE RECORDS / K5QE (SK)

Marshall Williams, K5QE, shared practical knowledge of VHF/UHF station engineering, moonbounce and contest operation. This reference page collects verified publicly available presentations and conference records in one place, with authorship and source attribution preserved.

External links go to the original conference publishers. K0AXX.NET does not claim authorship, ownership, or redistribution rights for Marshall’s slides. An indexed item is not described as an available PDF if the published download is missing.

Why sequencing matters

Marshall’s sequencing presentation makes a foundational point: a radio should not be allowed to generate RF until the receive preamplifier is protected, the changeover relays have completed movement, and the transmit chain is ready. Mechanical relay timing and contact bounce are real design parameters. A sequencer should control transmit permission—not merely react to RF that has already begun.

Read the new Relay and Sequencing Guide for K0AXX.NET’s independent interpretation and bench-verification checklist. For a lower-noise receive path, see Low-Noise Reception Guide.

Marshall and K0AXX

Marshall introduced K0AXX to the competitive side of VHF/UHF/SHF, and his generosity with station knowledge remains part of the story of this site. The page preserves an educational connection between his work and new station projects without presenting his material as K0AXX’s own.
