Originally licensed in 2007 as KE5OGY, I received the vanity callsign K0AXX in 2008 and earned my Amateur Extra privileges in 2023. I operate in Southeast Texas and have experimented with most radio modes and bands from 160 meters to 23 centimeters.<\/p>
I do not claim to have an elaborate station. The shack is equipped to my liking, and\u2014like any homebrew project\u2014there is always something else to improve. I enjoy the antenna work as much as the contact that comes afterward.<\/p>

Why antenna building matters<\/h2>
Simple wire antennas, VHF Yagis, phased arrays and specialized receiving systems all reward patient building and measurement. A homemade design does not have to look like a catalog photograph to become an effective antenna. Understanding why it works is part of the fun.<\/p>
